Oasis

Formed 1991
Oasis is an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991, originally comprising vocalist Liam Gallagher, guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs, bassist Paul McGuigan, and drummer Tony McCarroll, before Liam's older brother, Noel Gallagher, joined as principal songwriter and lead guitarist. Origins and Rise to Stardom (1991–1996) Signing to Creation Records in 1993, Oasis released their debut album, Definitely Maybe, in 1994, which became the fastest-selling debut album in UK history at the time. Their 1995 follow-up, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, spawned global anthems such as "Wonderwall" and "Don't Look Back in Anger," cementing the group as the frontrunners of the 1990s Britpop movement. In August 1996, Oasis played two nights at Knebworth to a combined audience of 250,000 people. Lineup Shifts and Continued Success (1997–2008) Following the release of Be Here Now (1997), founding members Arthurs and McGuigan departed the band in 1999. They were replaced by guitarist Gem Archer and bassist Andy Bell, joining the Gallaghers and drummer Alan White. Over the next decade, Oasis released four additional studio albums—Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (2000), Heathen Chemistry (2002), Don't Believe the Truth (2005), and Dig Out Your Soul (2008)—all of which reached number one on the UK Albums Chart. Dissolution (2009) Long-standing interpersonal friction between Noel and Liam Gallagher culminated in an argument backstage at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris in August 2009. Noel officially left the band that evening, prompting the remaining members to disband Oasis and temporarily form Beady Eye, while Noel launched Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. Reunion (2024–Present) In August 2024, Noel and Liam Gallagher announced the end of their 15-year estrangement and formally reunited Oasis. The band embarked on the worldwide Oasis Live '25 stadium tour throughout 2025 across Europe, North America, Asia, Australia, and South America. Following its success, the band announced additional international dates for their Oasis Live '27 tour.
