Artist profile
Dennis Stratton
Dennis Stratton is best known as the original second guitarist for Iron Maiden. Joined in late 1979, he performed on their classic 1980 self-titled debut album and early tracks like "Women in Uniform" before departing later that year.
Before his time in Maiden, Stratton cut his teeth in the 1970s London pub rock scene with Remus Down Boulevard, a local East End group that supported major acts like Rory Gallagher and Status Quo.
Following his exit from Maiden, he remained a fixture in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene, playing with several notable bands:
- Lionheart: A hard rock group formed in 1980, recording their debut album Hot Tonight in 1984.
- Praying Mantis: He joined this melodic metal band in 1990, serving as lead guitarist and occasional vocalist for 15 years and recording six studio albums with them.
- The Original Iron Men: A mid-1990s side project where he re-teamed with former Iron Maiden frontman Paul Di'Anno to release a series of albums.
Today, he still plays locally in East London pubs, occasionally reuniting with Remus Down Boulevard or performing with various Maiden tribute projects like Maiden united.
