The Green Man was a pub in the area of Plumstead in Southeast London, it was last open in 2014 under the name O'Dowds, in the 70s and 80s the pub was a rock venue.

Early in his musical career while studying history at Queen Mary College in London, Bruce Dickinson joined a hard rock/proto-speed metal band called Speed in 1977.

Formed alongside multi-instrumentalist Paul "Noddy" White and drummer Steve Jones, Speed's live exposure primarily consisted of a short residency playing several gigs at the Green Man pub in Plumstead, South East London.

Although the band was short-lived and never officially recorded, these performances at the Green Man marked one of Dickinson's earliest regular live pub runs in London and encouraged him to pursue a full-time career as a vocalist.

Another rock band with connections to the Green Man is the band Angel Witch who performed there in 1978, part of the gig is recorded and can be found on YouTube.

The pub has unfortunately been closed since 2014.
