The album's original title was supposed to be The Who Looks Back, and the front cover was meant to illustrate this. The Who can be seen looking at four children from a window on the left, the children each represent a member of the band in their childhood years. The children pictured are actually four kids selected in 1971 and dressed up to look like the young Who, one of them is Who manager Bill Curbishley's brother Paul.

The panoramic photograph on the album's inside cover is an exterior shot of the Railway Hotel in Harrow. In the photograph, a poster advertises a May 18th performance by The Who dates from 1965, though this photograph was actually taken in 1971. The Railway Hotel was run by Peter Townshend's friend Richard Barnes and was a popular Mod hangout.

Starting on Tuesday Nights in June 1964, soon after Keith Moon joined the band, The Who got a residency with the venue. It was at a performance during this residency that Peter Townshend accidentally cracked his guitar neck on the low ceiling, the low ceiling was brought even closer since the stage was made from beer crates. In response to laughter from the crowd, he then smashed the rest of his guitar for the first time in public. panerai replica watches, rolex replica

The Railway Hotel eventually closed and in the mid 1990's the Railway Hotel was derelict and boarded up. It was destroyed by a fire in March of 2000, four different blocks of flat was built in it's place, these were completed in September 2004 and are each named after a member of the band.
