The title Storyville refers to the prostitution district of New Orleans in 1897 - 1917, an area where prostitution was allowed legally, modelled on German and Dutch port towns. The area was shut down by the federal government during World War I in 1917.
The cover for the album Storyville was taken a few blocks away from where the actual Storyville was located. Instead the photo is taken beneath the arches at an old building called Cabildo in Jackson Square.
