Two of Liam Gallagher's partners gave birth at London's private Portland Hospital—Patsy Kensit in 1999 with his son Lennon, and Nicole Appleton in 2001 with his son Gene. On July 2, 2001, just after Gene was born, a swarm of paparazzi surrounded the hospital entrance. Furious at the intrusion, Liam confronted the photographers on the pavement, shoving cameras and hitting photographer John Lillington.
The chaotic scene outside the hospital stands out as one of the Oasis frontman's most notorious clashes with the UK press during the peak of the Britpop tabloid craze.
